Dear Scholarship Committee,

I have been asked to write a letter of recommendation for Mrs. Mamie Nelson It is an honor and a pleasure to do so.  My name is Judy George.  I am chemistry professor at Grossmont College. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Nelson for approximately 6 years.

During the years of our relationship, I have known Mrs. Nelson in many capacities. Mamie Nelson is a mentor to countless women, a community leader, and the founder of the organization Winning Women(WW). I was experiencing a personal crisis and a friend invited me to a WW meeting.  It was there where I met Mrs. Mamie Nelson.  I cannot describe how grateful I am to have Mrs. Nelson in my life.

If not for her wisdom and guidance throughout my struggles, I know I would not have successfully overcome the disaster of circumstances I was going through.  Her ability to see a situation clearly and to mentor and guide women through tough trials and major life changes is astounding.  It is a gift not many have but so needed in today’s changing and frantic world.

Hence, I was thrilled to hear Mamie Nelson’s desire to earn a graduate degree.  The knowledge and experience gleaned from the master’s program will only further benefit the women she counsels and inspires.  She is directly responsible for the success many women acquire.  Her giving, encouraging nature, intelligence, and desire help struggling women, will only be enhanced by the program she attends.
